In an effort to completely separate me from all my money, the MechWarrior Online team has announced a limited time offer, to allow us to purchase some of the formerly unseen ‘Mechs (the ones who’s appearance is contested through various lawsuits over distribution rights with Harmony Gold, and other companies.. necessitating the removal of the artwork from the TROs, Rulebooks, etc..). While we’re not getting all the unseen/reseen back as part of MWO’s Project Phoenix (no Phoenix Hawk, for example).. we are getting 4, including my personal favorite, the BattleMaster!
While the artwork for the remaining three Project Phoenix chassis hasn’t been revealed yet, we get a look at the Locust, and it is quite recognizable as a Locust.
The Project Phoenix ‘Mechs that are available for pre-order now (and including 30 days premium time if ordered by the 25th of July), are similar to Founder’s Mechs, in that they have a permanent c-bill bonus (30%), and a 10% boost to loyalty points (part of the CW system). Like the Founder’s ‘Mechs, they will also be available in “ordinary” versions.
Here is the current release schedule for the regular versions of these chassis:
Oct 15, 2013: Locust
Nov 20, 2013: Shadowhawk
Dec 18, 2013: Thunderbolt
Jan 22, 2014: Battlemaster
Preordered Phoenix ‘Mechs, and all the other goodies, will be added to your account on October 15th.
Here’s the full pre-order table:
Each Phoenix ‘Mech, also comes with 2 additional variants (allowing you to master the chassis). So, where a $120 Founder pack got your 4 ‘Mechs + premium time, an $80 Pheonix pack, gets you 4 ‘Mechs + 8 more variants, + premium time + in cockpit goodies. So the PP is a much better deal then the original FP (not that I regret my Founder’s Pack in any way.. this is more value for the $ though).
Artwork and hardpoint information for the 4 chassis is being revealed over the next several days, today we got the Locust:
The Energy/Ballistic hardpoints keep with the historical armament on the Locust we all know and love, and I’d imagine the 2 additional variants won’t stray from the old stats either.
You’ll have to excuse me.. I need to go throw my money at IGP/PGI now…
Update.. helps to give the link to the Project Phoenix page, doesn’t it?
Update: Â Here is the final image showing the artwork for all 4 ‘Mechs… Â Can’t wait till we get hi-res pictures of these!
