CIG has posted the uninterrupted video from last night’s CitizenCon.
The full blown video runs an hour and 22 minutes, without all the stops/starts caused by lag on YouTube last night :P
I recommend you watch it, and see some of the presentations from individual partners/teams yourself.. some of them are really good (and chock full of information). Â I didn’t realize they were contracting with companies in so many locations to ‘farm’ out some of the work. Â That they’re able to keep groups from that many locations co-ordinated is really impressive.
Here’s some quick highlights:
- Chris confirms that CitizenCon will be October 10th next year (and every year after that), so…start planning now!
- The Art team’s video revealed a TON of concept art that I don’t believe we’ve seen before including a lot of different character art concepts.
- Gladiator concept art was shown (the two shots from the presentation, and more can be seen over on the RSI site here).
- Retaliator concept art (again, a full gallery is available here).
- They are currently planning on having 450 locations spread across 110 systems! Â That’s a lot of environments the team will have to build, and script.
- Lots of news about the upcoming Organizations functionality of the website:
- Name might not be unique, but you will have a unique Organization code
- We’ll get logos, badge icons, manage the guild structure, and recruit on site.
- 4 different types of Organizations:
- Corporations (more Mercantile oriented), PMC (Private Military Corp), Faith based (start your own cult!), and a Syndicate (criminal organization)
- They’ll also be adding private guild forums (sounds like these will be Enjin style mini-sites).
- Photo Contest winners announced (I didn’t win, but big Congrats to the folks that did!).
- Chris Roberts’ brother joins CIG at a Manchester branch (along with some other folks) – new studio will be ‘lead’ studio for SQ42
- New hangar patch coming 10/11
- Hornet commercial debutes.. CR announces Hornets on sale, variants, and brochure being up on the site the 11th. Â The commercial wasn’t quite finished, but it looked pretty good. Â I’m looking forward to seeing the final, polished version.
Next Starship Contest announced
This looks really interesting. Â 16 teams of Community Modders will be competing to get their ship design included in the game.. AND win $30,000.
If I had any skill in 3D modeling, I’d take a whack at the contest.. Â definitely looking forward to seeing the entries and how the ‘reality show’ aspect of this plays out going forward.. Â So, get your team together and enter!
Lots of good information in the stream, especially the organization related stuff. Â It really sucks that YouTube had such problems with the stream last night, and made it unwatchable (right up to the point that YouTube killed the stream at the scheduled end..which would have been ok, if they’d started on time).
