The long wait is over! Â After numerous delays, CIG has today given us the Hornet variants, commercial, and brochure!
If you want eyecandy, and have a 4K monitor…watch this after setting the YouTube clip to use the original source, if you don’t have a 4K monitor, watch it in the highest resolution you can…
I love that the Hornet pilot was so unconcerned with the Aurora, he didn’t bother shooting at it. Â Nice to see he was worried enough about the 300i that he had to shoot it down :P
Don’t forget, everything in that video is in-game assets..that isn’t a CGI trailer like we see from other games… that’s the real deal, and what it will look like when we’re able to play (obviously, depending on system capabilities). Â It looks like all the high rez models, and insane poly counts, are not going to be wasted…
The variants introduced today are:
Make your mind up soon though, the Super Hornet is only available till Monday the 28th of October, while the Ghost, and Tracker are permanent additions to the store.
Everybody likes ship specs, and some of the lore behind the ship, especially a ship that is such an integral part of the universe (we’ll probably be spending a lot of time in the Hornet for the Squadron 42 campaign). Â CIG doesn’t disappoint for the Hornet, we also got the sales brochure:
One of the things CIG wanted to do with this variant release, is to showcase the kind of customization we’ll be able to do in-game on our ships. Â Want a that slimmer radar profile? Â Load those ECM upgrades up! Â Want to chase a few pirates? Â Throw some weapon upgrades on there, maybe an enhanced avionics package!
As always, all ships, and variants, will be available in game, for credits…so you don’t have to spend any money to get these variants…
Unless, of course, you want to go sit in your Hornet variant tonight after the hangar patch… Which, yes.. will be adding the variants into the Hangars for us to sit in, and make “pew pew” noises while pretending to fly.
Glad to see the Hornets getting their long awaited release… in my opinion, they’re definitely worth the wait! Â Well done CIG!
