New ‘Mech bio – Catapult! [Updated]

The MechWarrior Tactics team isn’t on vacation just because they’re going to GenCon this week..  Today we got a new ‘Mech bio… the Catapult!

It’s a C1..no a K2.. no a C1!

I’m having a mixed reaction to this one.  Overall, the artwork looks great.. the ‘Mech is easily identifiable as a Catapult.. my ‘concern’ is over the cannons attached to the arm pods.. those give it the appearance of a K2 variant, not the C1 mentioned in the bio card (granted, the C1 is listed as the ‘default chassis’.  It just doesn’t make sense to have the wording refer to the Catapult’s LRM raining ability… and have the non-LRM variant pictured.

Which would make those cannons..some sort of rotary LRM launcher?  3 volleys of five for each of the LRM 15 ‘shots’?  It’s a different concept..but, if you’re going to go that route, why still have the arm pods at all? just have the launcher cannons strapped to the side where the arm pods go?

Ignoring the arm pod/cannon thing.. the ‘Mech is very well done and looks great!

[Update]

We received confirmation via Chris C. over on the forums, that the cannons, are in fact.. the LRM-15s.. the MWT team also changed the picture on the bio card this after noon.. here’s the new one:

Bio Card… take 2!

Update 2:

While I was initially…not really thrilled with the cannon style LRMs.. having had some time to think about it.. I understand the motivation behind it. The Devs are (I think) trying to make a model that can be used on ANY ‘Mech that mounts that weapon. The big, blocky LRM launchers of the TRO Catapult.. wouldn’t look right mounted on some chassis.. while using the cannon LRM, makes the model a bit more interchangeable.

The Catapult still looks like a Catapult (just K2, not C1).. Boxy LRM launchers would be nice for nostalgia’s sake..but I’m now good with the cannon LRM launcher.
