Highlander Hero

PGI has added the picture of the next Hero ‘Mech to the rotating banner over at the MWO site.

The next Hero ‘Mech is Rhonda Snord’s Highlander (also seen in the “Ballistic” video the other day).

Here’s an outtake from Rhonda’s bio over on Sarna:

Rhonda and her father departed from Clan space in 3005 when she was six years old as part of the Wolf’s Dragoons compromise. During the journey, Jaime Wolf and Cranston agreed that it would be best if Snord split off from the main group to form an independent mercenary unit that would focus on locating old Star League technologies and artifacts. Snord’s Irregulars were the result of this plan.
Having grown up with the unit, it was only natural Rhonda would follow her father as a Mechwarrior. Although she was readily accepted by the unit, during her first action on Phecda, she was seriously wounded in both legs, and would have been rendered incapable of piloting a mech if not for the medical assistance of Wolf’s Dragoons.
In 3037 having already suffered one heart attack, Cranston stepped down as commander of the Irregulars. He turned command over to Rhonda. She built the unit into a full battalion, completely equipped with Star League Defense Force battlemechs. The unit would go on to serve with distinction in the War of 3039, all the while continuing to seek Star League-era tech.

Pretty in Pink!
Pretty in Pink!

This is the first time, since PGI started adding Hero ‘Mechs to MWO, that a Hero ‘Mech has been ‘announced’ or teased, before that chassis is available in game.  So, it’ll be interesting to see if the Highlander gets added at the same time as the Hero ‘Mech, or if we actually get the Hero ‘Mech first.

Based on past Hero ‘Mech MC pricing, Rhonda’s ride will cost us 6750 MC.  I need a MC sale before the ‘Mech makes it into the game!  I’m almost out of MC…. c’mon PGI.. sale time!

Definitely going to pick this one up, and for those worried about piloting a pink ‘Mech.. the April 2nd patch should add the feature allowing us to paint Hero ‘Mechs.
